Most stories you hear have two sides. The cousin who lost the cricket match says the umpire was unfair. The umpire says the batsman was clearly out. Both believe they are right. A thinking person hears both sides before making up their mind. This is called the two side test.
Pretend two of your friends had a fight at recess. Asad says Bilal grabbed his roll first. Bilal says Asad pushed him. If you only ask Asad, you will believe Asad. If you only ask Bilal, you will believe Bilal. Asking both gives you a chance at the real story. Maybe both did a small wrong thing. Maybe one is making up the whole story. You cannot know without both sides.
The two side test also works in school books. Maybe a chapter says the cotton textile mills made Lahore rich. Maybe another book says the same mills made the workers very poor. Both can be true at the same time. The full picture only appears when you read both. One book alone gives you half a story.
