Run rate is the average number of runs scored in one over. It tells you how fast a team is scoring. To find run rate, divide total runs by total overs. The bigger the run rate, the faster the team is scoring.
Way 1, plain division: 90 runs divided by 10 overs equals 9. So the run rate is 9 per over. That means on average, the team has scored 9 runs in every over so far.
Way 2, share equally in your head: Imagine 90 runs spread evenly across 10 over-bowls. Pour 90 marbles into 10 jars. Each jar gets 9 marbles. The run rate is the size of one jar.
Way 3, by the ball: 10 overs equals 60 balls. 90 runs divided by 60 balls is 1.5 runs per ball. Multiply by 6 to get the run rate per over: 1.5 times 6 equals 9. Same answer, two roads.
