For parents

Urdu does not have the English 'v' sound. Many Pakistani children, and even adults, say 'wadda' for 'vada' and 'wehicle' for 'vehicle'. The sound is made by touching the top teeth gently to the lower lip. Show your child in a mirror. Writing the letter is easier than saying it. The shape is two slants meeting in a sharp point. Always sharp, never round. Compare 'v' and 'u' on the same line.

Two lines, one sharp meeting. 'v' is the letter of decisions. The point at the bottom is where you stop and start again, going upward.
