The dot is not decoration. It is the entire identity of this letter. ب, پ, ت, ث, ٹ all share the exact same bowl, and only the dots tell them apart. When your child draws ba, the dot below is doing as much work as the curve. The stroke timings are approximate; the rule that matters is bowl first, dot second.

Putting the dot in exactly the right place is a real skill. Name it when your child gets it: "You put the dot under, that is what makes it ba." Recognition of the specific thing they did is worth more than a generic well done.
