پ is one of the letters Urdu and Persian added to the inherited Arabic alphabet because Arabic has no /p/ sound. Together with ٹ, چ, ڈ, ژ, گ, this is the cluster that makes the script ours rather than borrowed. Tell your child: "ہماری زبان نے یہ بنائی", which means our language made this letter. The first word they will spell with it is پاکستان or پانی, and that is not a coincidence. Stroke timings are approximate; the dot triangle is the part that must be right.

This letter belongs to Urdu specifically. When your child writes پ, they are writing a sound the Arabic script could not say until our language insisted. Let them feel that ownership.
