For parents
'u' and 'v' look like cousins but they are very different. 'u' is rounded, 'v' is sharp. Children who write quickly tend to make every 'u' a 'v'. Slow them down. The bottom of 'u' should hold water, the bottom of 'v' should poke. Practise both in the same word: 'cup' and 'cuv' so the eye sees the difference. Saying the sound also helps, 'u' is a wider mouth, 'v' uses teeth on lip.
'u' for Urdu, our language. A soft curve, never sharp. Like the language itself, made for poetry, not for cutting.
